Kristine Aguilar is a studio potter and educator, living on the unceded, ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh nations (Vancouver, BC). Born in Manila, Philippines, Kristine is the hands behind LUPA Ceramics, which is named after a Tagalog word meaning land/soil/earth/country. LUPA is an acknowledgement of her Filipina heritage as well as the raw materials used in her studio practice. Kristine received a Fine Arts diploma from Langara College and Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University. She has participated in artist residency programs in Japan, Mexico and Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Burnaby, BC. Her work has been shown across Canada and the United States and published in the The Journal for Australian Ceramics. She currently teaches at the Shadbolt Centre and is a member of the Dusty Babes Collective.
All LUPA glazes are made in-house, and are safe for the microwave and dishwasher (though hand washing is best). |
